The hours between the reservoir shore and the processing point decide what the harvest is worth. This is the part of the chain Divron has invested in most heavily.
Harvested prawns move live from the reservoir to the holding facility, held and acclimated before they travel. The water they travel in is managed for oxygen and condition the whole way, because stress rather than distance is what costs a live consignment. It is what makes the live line possible, and stock bound for chilling or cryogenic freezing is handled no differently.
Divron runs reefer trucks with built-in refrigeration and moves stock in iced crates. Both were built out alongside the fisher supply chain in partnership with the Market Development Facility and Australian Aid, together with the cold-storage capacity at the receiving end.
Handling standards are set for the animal's condition, not just for the schedule. Collectors are trained on handling practice and on what premium markets require, so the care taken at the shore matches the care taken at the facility.
